Book: Proverbs 14
“A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.”
Notice that there are only two options: 1) Build up or, 2) Tear down. In the Kingdom of God there is not the option of just maintaining. I would suggest that those who believe they are in a “maintaining mode” are probably truthfully more on the tearing down side.
In a home, how family members speak to one another is either building one another up, even during tough times, or pushing each other down. The family unit should be a place where children and parents alike are being encouraged to maximize the potential God has put in them. This means that parents are observing the talents and gifts that God has given their children and then seeing how they can encourage further development of them. Husbands and wives encourage one another to follow what God has put on their heart. Often sacrifices are made so that family members will succeed.
This also applies to individuals in business and ministries. A wise person is building up those around them even when others are not doing the same. It is amazing what can happen in someone’s life when another person builds them up. They sense that someone actually believes in them. We all need this.
In your home, work, ministry or relationship how can you build others up today? Are there things that you are aware of that you need to change so that you are not tearing down relationships? Ask God to show you who and how to build up those around you in a Kingdom building way.
