Conceal or Confess

Book: Proverbs 28

“People who conceal their sin will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.”

This proverb should be a great encouragement to those who are Kingdom builders and follow the King.
There is none on this earth who can honestly say that they have not sinned but those who follow the King can say that by His grace they have received mercy. Romans 3:23-25 “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.” What a wonderful gift that we could not buy, desperately needed that He provides to those who will receive it.

Those who are not prepared to confess their sins before God end up trying to conceal them. It is like a heavy backpack that just keeps on getting heavier and heavier. We might try to look good in front of others, even standing up straight, but it is still obvious that there is a backpack attached to us. Why is it so hard to drop the backpack of sin and receive what Jesus has done for us? Often it is because of pride as we want to look good and we believe the lie that if we confess we will look worse. Guess what? We are all sinners! The difference between the two are that one has confessed and dealt with their sins while the other is still trying to hide and conceal them.

There is a coming day, when we meet the King, the penalty for sin will have to be paid. For those who have received God’s gift through His son Jesus Christ by believing and accepting his sacrificial death, the penalty has been paid. Romans 6:33 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” For those who refuse this gift God so freely offers today, will suffer into eternally.

I encourage you to confess before the Lord that you are a sinner, that you desperately need this gift and that you accept what He did on the cross for you personally. Then turn from your sin and follow the King. This is the wisest thing anyone can do!
