Book: Proverbs 5
“An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him.”
A wise person deals with sin quickly and does not allow it to hold them back from their potential. Sin actually holds you back from being the person God made you to be and desires you to be. Those ropes of sin must be cut; that can only happen by confessing sin and receiving the freedom God offers. It is a giving up and receiving scenario.
If there is sin in your life that you are aware of, deal with it before God now. Confess it and receive the gift of freedom. There may be sin in your life that you are not aware of and God is wanting to see those binding ropes released as well. You can start that process by simply praying what the Psalmist prayed “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts” Psalm 139:23. He will bring things to your attention, not from a damnation perspective, but a loving correction of his son or daughter. Remember He wants you to be all that He made you to be. He wants to have an intimate ongoing relationship with you. But sin blocks that.
Sin gets in the way of our potential. Take a few minutes now and ask Him to reveal anything in your life that is blocking your relationship with Him. When He reveals it to you, deal with it quickly and thoroughly. Wisdom comes from agreeing with God and obeying Him. A completely fulfilled life comes from listening to Him and obeying Him.
