Book: Proverbs 11
“Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. People curse those who hoard their grain, but they bless the one who sells in time of need.”
Generosity wins the race! Freely give as you have received. Have you ever wondered why some people give, give, give and always seem to have more to give? Meanwhile others don’t give and it is like they have limited resources. Think of a pipe. If the product in it doesn’t flow out the end how can it receive any more? We are to be conduits or the pipe for God’s blessing to others. If we try to hold on we lose out. We are blessed to bless others not to just hold the blessing for ourselves. (See Genesis 12:2)
I have heard people say that they don’t give because they have nothing left over at the end of the month. In fact some of them struggle and end up going into debt for things they want. I have also observed people who seem to have very little in material things but seem to always be giving to others as the Lord leads them. These people seems satisfied and have the joy of the Lord in them. They know that God will provide for their needs and the needs of others that He is giving to, through them. They understand the conduit principle in God’s Economy.
Giving is really a heart issue and an ownership issue. Are we willing to submit all that goes through our hands (bank accounts) to the King as being His or do we try to hold onto everything that He blesses with? Are our hearts in fear that we won’t have enough so we put a valve in place to hold the resources back for our own use? A closed valve stops the flow! It puts a limit on what we can receive. An open valve will allow endless blessing to flow through.
Take time with the Lord thanking Him for all the blessings He has given you to bless others with. Ask Him to help you remove the potential valves of fear and greed so that His blessing will continually flow through you.
