God, I Know You Know

Book: Proverbs 2

“Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures.”

There have been several times when something of importance has gone missing whether it be our car keys, reading glasses or one of the boys special t-shirts! We first casually look in those places we would normally find them but then panic starts to set in as time is running out. We then quickly go to the Lord and yes, “Cry out” for help. Out of desperation we ask Him to help us find what we are looking for. We continue to search the house, often going back over the places we have already searched. Usually, within a few minutes the missing item has been found. We rejoice, thank the Lord and rush off.

There are many times in our daily life that we need insight and understanding. Here we are encouraged to intensely cry out to God as we search for His answer. His answers are compared to something of great value that are worth putting all ones’ effort into finding (much more than car keys or a special t-shirt). It is important to note that there is not a question about if there is silver or treasure – it is there. We can only receive it by desiring it so much that we ask Him for it.

When we cry out to God in this way we are really saying to Him, “I can’t do it on my own and I need your help. Please help me.” A good friend of mine, Mark, says it this way, “God, I know you know!” When we are dependent on God we can accomplish much more and with greater peace.

In your life today what do you need to cry out to the Lord for, and say “’God, I know you know’ please give me insight and understanding?” Take a few minutes and call out to Him for insight and understanding… and don’t forget to thank Him for it!
