Book: Proverbs 25
“It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them. No one can comprehend the height of heaven, the depth of the earth, or all that goes on in the king’s mind!”
A wise person knows and acts on the understanding that God is all knowing. In fact His understanding is limitless. Psalm147:5 “Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” There is nothing for God to learn as He knows everything, understands everything and is control of all things. He is the one who makes knowledge and truth available for us to learn.
God knows everything about those He created. David wrote a song about this recorded in Psalm 139. In verses 2-4, he shares how God even know the little details of his life, “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord know it completely.” God’s knowledge and understanding of you and I is inexhaustible. We may think we know ourselves pretty well but He knows absolutely everything about us that there is to know including why He has put us on earth at this point in time and for what purpose.
Having an understanding that God knows everything, and we do not, should impact the decisions we make and the way we live. When we have a problem, we should take it to the One who knows all things. As we were raising our boys, there were many times they would come to my wife and I to ask for help with a problem. Why did they do this? Because they knew we could help them. The same should be with us when we have struggles. We should take them to the Lord. He has said to ask and we will receive.
Fear often wants to creep in and destroy our peace and joy. Fear, other than of God, is forgetting that God knows all things including what we are facing. He does not want us to live from a place of fear but rather of knowing Him. He wants each of us to know that He is watching over us. We can call out to Him at any time and He will give us the strength we need.
How does the truth that God knows all things, including what you are going through right now, change your perspective? Take time to thank the Lord that He is the one who is all knowing and understands all things. Invite Him to show you what He wants you to know about Himself and the situation you find yourself in.
