Wisdom over Strength

Book: Proverbs 21

“The wise conquer the city of the strong and level the fortress in which they trust.”

How is it that a wise person can break through a stronghold, be it a walled city or another man-made fortress system? God is actually calling each one who belongs to His Kingdom to do this but not on our own. We are to be directed by Him and use His wisdom not ours.

Imagine a city back in Bible times that has very high walls and a strong army within. How would anyone ever be able to penetrate it and conquer it? Yet through using God’s wisdom anything is possible. Consider the children of Israel who marched around Jericho. That’s not the most conventional way of taking a city but it was the wisest way of doing it because God directed them to do it that way. If they had just started shooting arrows at the city they would probably still be doing the same today. True wisdom involves God being involved.

Many strongholds have been taken over by wise Kingdom builders just by sitting down and having a coffee with a powerful individual. As they experience the love, care and respect the Kingdom builder has for them, they are eventually won over. Why? Because God set that up as an ordained appointment to expand His Kingdom. God’s wisdom is not only for us to enjoy and be guided by but also to expand His Kingdom! That is why He wants all of His followers to be wise and use His wisdom all the time. There are many spiritual fortresses that must be taken over by the King of Kings and therefore every believer is needed in this work.

So what spiritual fortress is God calling you to conquer with His wisdom? Take a look around where you are as it is probably close by. He has placed you there for a reason. Ask Him what He wants you to do and then obey with His strength and wisdom. It may be listening to a person instead of trying to argue them into the Kingdom or it may mean serving them so that they experience the King of Kings, Jesus, through you!

Romans 8:37 “…in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
