Book: Proverbs 11
“If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you!”
What are you searching for? Good or evil. Search for Good and you will find it. Search for evil and it will find you.
Imagine trying to find someone before they find you. There is a sense of fear. That is what searching for evil is like. It will come up behind you suddenly and bite you. In contrast, good, as you seek it out, you will find it without fear.
As our King is good and His Kingdom is good, we also should do good in the sight of Him towards those around us. This brings us favor from those we impact for the Kingdom. They get to taste a little bit of God’s Kingdom (goodness) in their life. God may use this to bring them into His Kingdom if they aren’t already.
For those who are constantly seeking to do those things that are outside of God’s Kingdom, not following His Wisdom and are bent on going their own way, pain and suffering awaits them. Their personal potential and their positive contribution to society is thrown away which ends up costing them and society.
God made you to enjoy Him and serve in His Kingdom. Every decision, even if it is a decision not to make a decision, either is good and for God’s Kingdom or is against His Kingdom. There is not any neutral ground. The question is, are you seeking good or evil? Is what you are doing bringing good to others and honoring God or not? We need to be fearing God, listening to His wisdom and obeying Him if we truly want to do what is good.
Take a few minutes and talk with the Lord asking Him to help you do what is right in every situation today. Then as you come up with decisions throughout the day, quickly talk with Him asking for guidance. He will provide it!
