Book: Proverbs 7

“Tie them on your finger as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.”

Years ago, in a weekend leadership seminar I took along with my wife we had to write out a personal purpose statement and a personal vision statement. These two statements I have written out and placed on my office desk, my wallet and iPad. I refer to them often as they help remind me what I am about. Each time I share them with someone else it confirms them deeper in my heart. When making decisions I am reminded of them and ask how they play into the situation.

Steve’s Purpose Statement – I exist to have an ongoing, consistent personal love relationship with my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ that influences/penetrates all aspects of my life, touching others and resulting in glory to God.

Steve’s Vision Statement – To move people(s) towards what God desires of them through:

  • *Creative Bible Teaching/Preaching
  • *Projecting and Developing Vision and Possibilities
  • *Facilitating other people in and to Leadership Positions

I have found these two statements have both freed me and focused me of what God’s plan for me is.

As you start off this day, what have you “Tied to your finger” and “Written deep on your heart?” You may want to set some time in the near future aside to work through your personal purpose statement and your personal visions statement. If you would like help with this, feel free to contact me for further instructions. Meanwhile, consider the wisdom God has highlighted as you have read through Proverbs 7 and find practical ways to be reminded and have them written deep on your heart.
