Book: Proverbs 8
“Listen to me! For I have important things to tell you. Everything I say is right, for I speak the truth and detest every kind of deception.”
When someone says, “listen” they are trying to get their audience’s attention from all the other distractions that might be going on. The expectation is that the listener will stop what they are doing and concentrate on the important message the speaker has. There have been times when my sons have been very engaged in playing a game and I have needed to break into the game and communicate an important message to them. I have said, “boys, listen” and then spoken the message I wanted them to hear and understand.
The important message that God wants us to stop and listen to today is that, everything He says is right and true. He emphasizes this point just to make sure that we are clear on His message by saying that anything that is not right He hates. Therefore He is truth and the source of truth.
In John 14:6 Jesus confirms He is the truth when He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” As we seek truth we can only find it in Him.
Knowing that He is truth is important but we also need to “listen” to His truth. We do that by spending time with Him through reading His Word, the Bible, and talking with Him through prayer. It is more than just having a “daily devotion” but rather in every situation and every decision, we invite Him as the Truth.
Do you take time to “listen” to the Truth? Do you invite Him into every situation and decision? Choose today to seek the truth by seeking the Truth!
