Book: Proverbs 7
“Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family”
I grew up with many sisters and each one of them is precious to me. Since I am the youngest in the family, my older sisters, at times, hovered over me like parents. There were times when my mother would step in and get them to back off so that I could have the freedom to learn things on my own. I knew though that each one of them wanted the best for me. I could rely on them and they would help me if I needed it.
There is a difference between having the intellectual knowledge of wisdom and loving wisdom. Having knowledge without using it appropriately has very little value to life. But loving wisdom by applying it through insight both protects and directs one along the right and proper pathway.
Loving wisdom comes from knowing and loving the One who gives true wisdom, and that is God. He wants you and me to live by wisdom – His ways! He is the source of wisdom and invites those who lack wisdom to wholeheartedly receive it. James 1:5-6 says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.” The more we love God, the more we will love His ways and will ask for his perfect direction.
Thank the Lord for the wisdom He has given you. “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.” Ask the Lord for the wisdom you need today!
