Book: Proverbs 18
“He who willfully separates himself from God and man seeks his own desire, He quarrels against all sound wisdom.”
Living and working with people can be a real challenge. Everyone has their own way of doing things and seeing things and it may not agree with yours. It can be really frustrating when our ways clash with others. It is easy to get offended and just give up on “these” people.
Running away or shutting ourselves off from people and/or God doesn’t make anything better. It is very destructive to ourselves; neither is it God’s plan for us. God’s way is reconciliation. Reconciliation means restoring good relationships. Now if a person is abusive to us, God has special instructions for that but it still involves other people helping us. God has peace and relationship as His goal.
2 Corinthians 5:18-21 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
If you find yourself disconnecting from people or God….”Come back!” Wisdom says, in Christ, God doesn’t hold a grudge against you so neither should you have one against another. Instead, demonstrate reconciliation by as far as it’s possible to be at peace with all people and go urge others to do the same.
