Book: Proverbs 21
“People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart.”
In the first two chapters of Genesis, God created the world and… it was very good! Everything was peaceful and without flaw. It was paradise! Then in chapter three there is a change, as sin entered. It says, “The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness.” Adam & Eve had been told very directly by God they were free to eat the fruit of every tree in the garden except for one. That one tree was the one they choose to eat from. In their eyes, the fruit looked delicious and they had bought the lie that it would give them wisdom. Therefore they believed it was the right thing for them to do. They felt they would benefit from it. The opposite happened.
When God showed up to visit Adam & Eve in the evening their hearts had already been examined. God asks them questions so that they could come forward and acknowledge what they did wrong. Instead they blamed others.
When making decisions it is so important that we do not rely on just what we see as being right but also ask the Lord how he sees it. If we know that He says in the Bible we are not to do something we best not do it rather than be rebellious and disobedient.
Choose today to make decisions based on what God says.
