Book: Proverbs 17
“Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord test the heart”
Most of us do not like tests. As two of my sons are in University and April is exam time I watch them study but they do not look froward to the final exams. They do look forward to after the exams!
When the Lord tests our heart it is to show how genuine our love and faith in Him is. It is not there to destroy us but prove us. It helps in the process of identifying and taking out any of the impurities that will make us purer for Him. Psalm 66:10,12b says, “You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver… but you brought us to a place of great abundance.”
The stronger the metal, the more valuable and the more can be done with it. As God tests our heart and we become more like Him through the process, the bigger assignment He is able to trust with us next. But there is also a future aspect to consider as we read in 1 Peter 1:6-7 “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold – though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”
As a Kingdom builder, when you are facing trials and being tested, lean on Jesus Christ by bringing everything to Him in prayer. This is the way we demonstrate our love and faith in Him. Remember, He is preparing an incredible future with Him in heaven!
