Book: Proverbs 22
“I am teaching you today-yes, you- so you will trust in the Lord.”
You may not have realized it but you are in school! Yes, God is wanting to teach you new things about Himself, His creation and yourself. There is not a day that goes by that He doesn’t have something for you. The question is, are you willing to hear His voice and learn the wisdom He has for you?
I have noticed something in my own life and you may have as well, which is, when God is trying to teach me a lesson and I am not willing to learn or I resist it, I usually have to take that lesson over again. There are times I have prayed, “Lord help me to learn this lesson well because I don’t want to go through it again!” Have you done that?
The last half of the proverb tells us why we are being taught: so that we will trust the Lord. As we learn these lessons and experience a deeper level of faith in Him our trust level grows. Without these lessons our trust in Him will be weak. When the storms of life come up will we be ready?
King David, praised the Lord by saying, “Praise the LORD! For he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. The LORD gives his people strength. He is a safe fortress for his anointed king” (Psalm 28:6-8). It is no wonder that God said about David, “I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do” (Acts 13:22). David was willing to receive God’s teaching and apply it into his life and his leadership. He trusted the Lord by obeying all that he learned. The more we learn about God’s Wisdom, the wiser choices we can make.
Are you ready for your lesson from God today? Learn it well by obeying and trusting Him!
