Book: Proverbs 2
“Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.”
As I am preparing and writing the Kingdom Daily Wisdom I try to eliminate all distractions. The door of my office is closed, it is quiet and my full attention is on the project before me. As I read through the chapter for the day I try to have the attitude of the boy Samuel (1 Samuel 3:10) when he said to the Lord, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” I desire to hear from the Lord each time.
As I read through the chapter, a verse will seem to stand out. Then I take time to further investigate what that proverb means. Sometimes there are several and so I take the time to look at each of them. I try to do this with a prayerful attitude asking the Lord to show me what I am to learn from it and how to apply it into my life. It is amazing how He answers these prayers. I am amazed at what He has shown me through the studying of Proverbs.
But it doesn’t just stop when I leave my office. Throughout the day, God has an incredible way of bringing out the reality of the proverb I have been concentrating on. Sometimes a particular situation will arise and the wisdom from the proverb is exactly what I need. Other times I find that I end up sharing it with a person who is needing that wisdom in their life at that point.
Being Kingdom builders it is important that daily we “tune our ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.” As you read through Proverbs 2 today, write down one or two verses and take time to prayerfully understand them.
