Book: Proverbs 4
“I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble.”
In our household, my wife is the runner and I am the walker! I have tried to be a runner, ran 5 days a week for six months, but never enjoyed it. My wife on the other hands enjoys getting out for a run regularly. I enjoy a good long walk which can last up to an hour and a half.
One day, as I was out for a walk, I had to change my route because the city had blocked the path off due to maintenance work. This was a little frustrating as I like to follow the same path and not have to think about where I am going. When I am walking I am spending time talking with God not really planning my next step.
God’s wisdom is never down for repairs or maintenance. It never holds you back from life but instead does the opposite, boosting you forward in the right direction and at the same time keeps you safe. The whole reason God has shared His wisdom with us is so that we might live maximized lives in the purpose we were designed for. He wants us to live fulfilled lives and not miss out on anything good that He has made for us. God’s wisdom is more than just reading and following the do’s and don’ts.
It is allowing Him to walk and run in front of you, behind you, beside you, below you and above you at the same time holding your hand. He reminds you of the proverbs and wisdom He has taught you so that you apply them at the right time in the right way.
Some have said that Christianity and the Bible restricts people from doing what they want. The truth is that God’s wisdom frees people to become all that they were designed to be. We can accomplish much more by following God’s guidance than by trying to work but what is right on our own.
As you run or walk through this day allow God to lead you and keep you safe.
