Book: Proverbs 7
“The woman approached him, seductively dressed and sly of heart.”
Have you ever thought about the wisdom God has provided with regards to how you clothe your body? Remember, His wisdom is always to help His people, Kingdom Builders, to do what is right, just and fair. Wisdom is not limited to only men or only women, but rather for both.
Understanding the truth about how God see’s our bodies is crucial to knowing how we ought to cover them. It starts back in Genesis where God created Adam and Eve. It was not until they sinned that covering their bodies became important. Adam and Eve desperately tried to cover themselves by sowing fig leaves together (not the best material to use) and hid from God. Before God sent them out of the Garden of Eden, He made clothing from animal skins which would have covered much more of their bodies.
Now read these verses from the New Testament and meditate on what God is saying to you:
“They (our bodies) were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6:13
“Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ?” 1 Corinthians 6:15
“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” 1 Peter 3:3-4
You say, “I am allowed to do anything” but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything” …but not everything is beneficial. Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others. 1 Corinthians 10:23
As you considered these verses, what did the Holy Spirit highlight for you? (Don’t be tempted to focus on how others need to follow the truth in theses verses). Is there a truth (Wisdom), that He wants you to act on? Thank the Lord for what He has shown you through these verses and ask Him to help you implement it into your life.
